Hna Mandy

Hola familia y amigos y cualquier otra persona que por casualidad esta leyendo!! This has been a rollercoaster week with just as many ups as downs but nonetheless a good week. We had the opportunity on Monday last to visit with our investigador de gold and we invited a member to help us because they had gone to church just in time to see the obispado change and were sure to have a lot of questions. As we were walking to the cita we told the member that we were not going to respond right away at every question they would have when they asked it because when we follow the spirit and teach the lesson that we had prepared for them that would respond to a lot of their questions without jumping all over the place in the conversation. The member responded with something along the lines of "but we need to answer their questions" and that should have been a warning sign for us but we didn't pay it any mind and went to our lesson and the hna. was so excited to share the gospel that when our investigator asked a question about repentance she responded with a speech on how Ley de Castidad is the most vile sin!! It was crazy! Ah adventures of the mission. We love that the members here are so willing to help us but it's a bit stressful when stuff like that happens. What I've learned though is that it doesn't matter what happens and what mistakes you make while teaching if the person is prepared and open to the spirit they are going to know the message is true all the same. Nicholas is definitely prepared because even though he was a bit confused after that lesson he still looked for answers in the LDM and came to church this week and even brought his son.
It was cool because in the north of chile right now they're passing through a bunch of problems because a huge river overflowed and crashed through a city, carrying away things, cars, people and leaving their houses and businesses full of mud up to the ceiling and a lot of people lost everything. But our ward is putting together food to send up to them and the bishop announced it in church and afterwards Nicholas called us saying he had food to send even though he isn't a member.
Then on tuesday almost all of our citas fell through which would seem like a bad thing at first but for us we looked at it as an opportunity to find new people so we set off for the people and houses chosen and were able to find a family that is super open to our message, a young single mom, and a menos activo that got baptized when she was thirteen but hasn't assisted since! There's very little I love more than entering a new house for the first time and talking about the gospel to people that have never experienced it before. It helps that we have a new video for Easter that we're sharing Because He Lives or Gracias a Que El Vive which is super Bakan and helps us invite the spirit and find new people. On Miercoles we visited a family that is catholic and two of them are really closed off to our message but the daughter actually read the folleto and answered the questions in the back and had questions ready about the things that she didn't understand!! Then we watched another investigator progress when we got to our cita and he had been reading the book of mormon and wanted to share with us instead of visa versa! Miercoles we recieved bad news, we went to visit an old investigator that we haven't seen in algunas semanas and she said because we/ I didn't come back to teach her she felt like that was her answer about our religion and that we're no different than all the other religions that claim and preach a lot but don't practice. She told me that she felt super uncomfortable with us and didn't want us to come back. En that moment I remembered the quote from the talk by Jefferey R. Holland "Sometimes it is really hard to be a missionary" In that moment I remembered every single investigator that we have that maybe we haven't visited recently for lack of time and felt a huge weight on my shoulders like it was up to me to make sure they recieve salvation and that I wasn't doing everything I could or that we were spending too much time looking for new people when we have so many that we've already found. It weighed on me til the next day in my personal study when I was reading in Alma 8 and while reading I recieved an answer tan claro a my worries in verses 14 - 16 that talks about getting back up on your feet that you will be blessed by keeping the commandments and doing what you can but that we need to help people come unto repentance. The book of mormon is so stinking awesome and it really does answer all of life's questions. ON friday we had a noche de hogar with a part member family and I taught them how to make No bake cookies and they actually turned out pretty good! The members were surprised because not a lot of people here like peanut butter and say it's a gringo invention gone wrong but everyone liked these!! We also got to help the hno. that's been in the hospital clean his house that was left alone for a couple weeks. Saturday we had a baptism!! It was de the elders but bakan igual!! Sunday was really cool because we had a sacrament meeting especially espiritual and one of our investigators finally came to church!! The new bishop in the third hour talked about the video ONly a Stonecutter and talked about our responsibilities as members and how when we know what we should do and we don't do it we are sinning by omission and it could have been a really harsh lesson but he found a way to teach it with love talking about the parable of the talents and how the man who hid his talent probably felt like he was doing the right thing, guarding his talent so as not to risk losing it but when we leave the talents that we have been given unattended and don't show our gratitude by using them we will lose them igual in the end. It was super bakan and our investigator fiel Enrique was crying so we're hoping that he recieved his answer through that lesson. It's kind of crazy when people who are older and have much more life experience ask us missionaries for advice on what they should do but in the end it's the gospel that we are sharing and it's the gospel that answers all of life's problems. Hope you all have an amazing week and Enjoy Conferencia General!!! WAAHOOO we get to listen to the prophet!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO EXCITED!!!! It will be interesting to hear him in Spanish...
Con muchisimo amor

Oops here is the message for real!
Thank you for all the birthday wishes it how fast time flies when your in the mission! Its crazy to think of turning 21 thats old!! And on the mission whats even more crazy is everyone else conner kenna baily are getting older to!
There is always funny things that happen little stories but this week its frogs! We have a path that we always walk to go to the church we have to cross a little river this last week there have been alot of frogs near this river one day we where walking a cross and a frog jumped in the water near my comp she started yelling it was funny I told her I wanted one cuz I wanted a prince! The next night we where walking home and frog jumped by my feet so I started jumping and yelling cuz its dark and somthing was moving at my feet that I thought was a rock! What carma! My comp was laughing all the way home everyone was looking at us like we where crazy. like it says in the scriptures ask and you shall recieve!
The work has been going good this week we saw some milagros and some downs but you have to look at the good. This last week we found one family of a grandma a mom and her two kids the grandma is a little tuff but she is listening, came to church and almost..... almost accepted a fecha. We have one hno that is really piles his name is hno Fransico I have talked about him before he has a fetch for April!! And has been coming to church and all the activities. Its really cool he really knows the Bible but has talked about that he was still looking for more its because we have the Plenitud of the Gospel here!!
This week we where able to have Investigadors in Church other then Hno Francisco which we where so excited for. But for me the main milagro was that this mom and her daughter came to church they have been unactive for a while. The Husband of this Hna has had problems with the Elders before when the Elder that was here before us was showing us around he told us not to enter the house when he was there. We didnt know all that happened but this is why this Hna couldnt come to church cuz her husband wouldnt let her. One day we visited this hna and found the husband and started talking to him. It maybe that Hna missionaries are better... or that maybe cuz we are women or Heavenly Father softened his heart but he has been very polite to us and open we have been kinda teaching him he is still very against coming to church but we got him to agree to start praying. We have faith with him he talked alot about how he is really hard but has a soft side to we feel like with time he may change. Right now when ever we visit him we still invited him to church he smiles and says no but we tell him we have faith in him. Even if he doesnt come to church while Im here Ill be happy if our visits help this sister and her daughters come to church cuz this sister has a strong testimony she just wants to please her husband to. It shows how its so important to be united has a family husband and wife its part of the plan of God he wants us to be happy not sad.
We also have to focuz on the good in live and not the bad cuz then we can have more postive out look on life to help things improve and maybe when things dont go has we want there may be different plans that heavenly father wants us to do!
Im so excited to listen to Conference to hear our Prophet speak to us. Its really nice that my birthday is always around conference and easter. I always loved easter with the colors eggs, easter egg hunts, the time to remeber our Savior. Here they have a whole week to celebrate easter its a little crazy but fun.
I am so happy to be here on the mission I know that it is only from my Savior Atoning sacrifice that I am here on the mission. I am grateful for this time to serve and to give others this knowlege of this gift that everyone can repent and be better. I know this time has helped me to be better but I still have a long way to go. I hope everyone can listen to conference and go with open hearts and minds because we know that when the Prophet and his apostels speak it is what our Heavenly Father wants us to hear, know, learn and apply!
I love you all
Con amor de Guate
